Members’ Voluntary Liquidation (MVL)

MVL is a solvent liquidation in which the shareholders of a solvent business take the decision to wind down the company to facilitate the best outcome for the shareholder.

MVL can provide for tax relief in many situations and can take advantage of entrepreneurs relief on distributions to shareholders.

A Licenced Insolvency Practitioner is appointed to assist with the winding down of the company, make distributions to shareholders, pay any remaining creditors and, upon finalising the Liquidation, dissolution of the company.

Expert insolvency guidance

“An MVL is often used as part of the restructuring process. It’s imperative that anyone considering this option engages the services of highly experienced and knowledgeable advisers who fully understand the intricacies of closing down a profitable business to ensure the best possible financial outcome.”
