THE TEAM

Stephen Conn FCA FABRP

Qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1970 and was made a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1979. Stephen became a Fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) and a Fellow of the Insolvency Practitioners Association in 1988.

In 1979 Stephen joined Deloitte in Australia and worked as a Chartered Accountant in that country for 2 years. Stephen returned to the UK and was made a Partner with Harry L Price and subsequently Ernst & Whinney. In 1989 Stephen set up his own company specialising in Corporate Rescue and Recovery. In 2002 he merged his practice and became a Partner with the Begbies Traynor Group and assisted with its flotation on the AIM market in 2004.

Stephen left Begbies Traynor Group in October 2012 to form CG&Co.

Jonathan Avery-Gee FCA FABRP

Qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1973 and was made a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1979. Jonathan became a Fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) in 1988.

Jonathan achieved his qualification as a Chartered Accountant with Hacker Rubens Philips and Young in London. In 1975 Jonathan moved to Manchester to work for a Merchant Bank in their debt recovery department. In 1977 Jonathan joined R Kay & Co, which later became Kay Johnson Gee, and was made Senior Partner in 1992, specialising in Insolvency and undertaking several high-profile insolvencies in stockbroking, debt management, sports clubs, construction and manufacturing.

Jonathan left Kay Johnson Gee in October 2012 to form CG&Co.

Jonathan is widely regarded as one of the most experienced insolvency practitioners in the North West of England.

Edward Gee MIPA MABRP

Following a degree in Economics from Liverpool University, Edward joined Begbies Traynor Group on their graduate program.

Edward qualified as an Insolvency Practitioner in 2012. Edward is a Member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association and the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3). Edward has enjoyed secondments to national clearing Banks’ where he worked in their recoveries department.

Edward left Begbies Traynor in October 2012 to help form CG&Co. Edward is the firm’s representative for the Association of Short Term Lenders, due to his experience and specialism in Law of Property Act Receiverships.

Daniel Richardson MIPA MABRP

Daniel commenced his career in 1999 with UHY Hacker Young in Manchester. During his time with UHY, Daniel gained valuable experience in all aspects of insolvency, specialising in formal corporate procedures; Administrations, Liquidations and CVAs. Having passed his insolvency examinations in 2007, Daniel obtained his appointment taking licence in 2012 when he became Director at UHY. Daniel continued to thrive in his new role, and was made Partner at UHY in June 2013. In addition to insolvency work, Daniel acts as a Law of Property Act Receiver on distressed property matters. Daniel has assisted one of the UK’s largest building societies, on their commercial recoveries book, dealing with multi-million-pound property portfolios.

In June 2016 Daniel joined CG&Co, and continues to take appointments on formal insolvency procedures and property receiverships, of differing complexity and size. Daniel is the firm’s representative for the Financial Intermediary & Broker Association.

Daniel is a Member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association and the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3).

Andrew Walker AABRP

Andrew is an Associate Member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3). During October 1983, the company, for which Andrew had been the in-house Accounts Manager for 10 years, was placed into Receivership and the appointed Receivers from Coopers & Lybrand later offered him employment within their insolvency department.

Andrew has subsequently enjoyed a career in insolvency working on more than 1,500 cases covering all aspects of insolvency since that first case over 30 years ago.

Following a number of roles, Andrew joined CG&Co in March 2013.

Megan Burr

Megan joined CG&Co in September 2017 after attaining a high 2.1 Degree from Durham University. Since joining CG&Co, Megan has enjoyed a secondment at an international clearing bank in their recovery department in London. She assists on a variety of cases including Law of Property Act Receiverships and corporate insolvency Procedures. Megan recently passed the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency with Merit and is now working towards taking her next insolvency examinations to become a qualified insolvency practitioner.

Stephanie Adams

Stephanie entered the insolvency profession in December 1998, following an 18 month role as an accounts assistant. The Company that Stephanie was employed at entered into insolvency proceedings and the appointed Insolvency Practitioner offered her an insolvency administrator role, which quickly progressed to a senior administrator position and subsequently assistant manager. Stephanie passed her Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency in 2003 and furthered her career as an insolvency manager at a new firm, managing a case load of over 200 cases and four members of staff. Stephanie is proficient in both corporate and personal insolvency working on over 1,000 cases over the past 20 years. Stephanie joined CG&Co in June 2018 to progress her career and to gain further experience in complex cases.

Bill Brandon

Having previously worked in the Civil Service and for a Finance House in London, Bill entered into insolvency in 1991 and moved from London to the North in 2000. Since the commencement of his time in insolvency, Bill has had a varied career covering both personal and corporate cases including trading Administrations and high-profile clients.

Bill passed the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency in 1997, and joined the CG&Co team in April 2019 as a Manager in the Firm.
